The Art of The Text Based Email

And why it works so well...

The Juice

Hey it’s Dylan from The Juice.

Most brands obsess over highly graphic, overly designed emails (rightfully so, design matters).

But here’s the thing…

If everyone’s inbox is flooded with polished graphics, product collages, and bold colors, It gets harder and harder to stand out and grab your customers attention.

Introducing the new pattern interrupt:

A simple, clean, text-based email.

Example

There a few reasons these emails perform so well (often outperforming graphic emails).

  1. It’s personal. No longer is it a faceless corporation trying to sell something, It looks like an email you would receive from a friend.

  2. It’s skimmable. Keep your text based emails to less than 10 sentences, with a clear CTA.

  3. It’s different from all the other emails in your customers inbox (stands out and invited engagement)

  4. It gives your designers a break. These can be written in minutes!

When Should You Send Them:

Should you stop sending graphic emails all together?

No - the magic is in mixing them in with your regular strategy.

You can use them to promote a new drop, last chance of a sale, anything you like!

How To Write Them:

✅ Write like you talk (depending on your brands voice, keep it personal and inviting!)
✅ Keep it short. (2–3 short paragraphs max.)
✅ Tell a story, answer a FAQ, or check in on your reader.
✅ Sign off with a real person (even if you have to create a character).

When you do it right, your audience won’t even realize they’re being marketed to.

Email Example Of The Day:

Notes: Simple but extremely personal reach out from the founder. Notice how the CTA has it’s own line, making it impossible to miss.
