The Most Important Email In Marketing

Yet most brands get it wrong...

Hey It’s Dylan from The Juice.

I audited an account for a brand yesterday and when I was looking at the welcome flow…

I had to scroll forever to get through the first email.

brand origin story, loyalty programs, product breakdowns, product education, shipping info, the works!

I asked the founder: "why is everything crammed in here?"

she said: "I don’t want them to miss anything”.

Here's the thing:

The more info we give in one email - the easier we’re going to overwhelm and stress the customer out.

90% of customers gave you their email for one reason. To get the discount you promised them.

Email 1 isn't your chance to dump everything you want them to know. it's your chance to give them what they came for and get them back to your site.

what actually works:

  • their discount code (the whole reason they're here)

  • 2-3 sentences about who you are

  • 3-4 bestsellers they can shop right now

  • one clear CTA

done.

If they buy, great. if they don't, that's what emails 2-7 are for in the flow.

that's when you educate about your mission, go deep on ingredients etc.

Winning Layout:

What to aim for:

The first email in your welcome flow should:

Have at least a 50%+ open rate

At least 5% click rate

At least a 8% placed order rate.

If it doesn’t… there’s work to be done!

If you have any questions or any topics you want covered, smash the reply button I would love to help out!

Cheers,

Dylan
